Dispute Resolution Committee:
Welcome to the Dispute Resolution (“DR”) Committee of the U.S.-Mexico Bar Association (“USMBA”).The DR Committee covers all aspects of private and public dispute resolution through its permanent subcommittees and working groups. The permanent subcommittees consist of Litigation, Arbitration, Mediation, Judicial Liaison (by invitation) and an Academic Council (by invitation).Working Groups are formed when a sufficient number of DR Committee Members express an interest in the application of one or more skill sets of a Permanent Subcommittee to a particular practice area, for example in 2010 an Energy and Natural Resources Working Group was formed.
The Mission of the DR Committee is to develop and promote understanding of the legal systems, practices and cultures of the US, Mexico and Canada, to exchange professional information among its members, to enable lawyers[whether in the private sector, in-house, or government ], academics, law students, members of the judiciary, and government officials to better serve their communities; to promote development of infrastructure and resources for the solution of controversies; to share experiences in dealing with matters of common interest, and avoid unnecessary conflicts, without adopting or favoring any particular political standing. If you are interested in joining the USMBA DR Committee or have any questions, please e-mail David Coale at david.coale@klgates.com. We look forward to your participation in the work of the committee.
